Recently, Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City was nationally recognized for advancing disability inclusion efforts in 2023 by the Center for Disability Inclusion (CDI).

Since 2009, the CDI has worked alongside businesses and community organizations to assist companies who actively work to include people with disabilities in the workplace and marketplace. Through business partnerships, employment trainings and annual events, the Center has helped companies to advance disability inclusion practices.

Ameristar Kansas City was one of ten companies in the United States to be recognized with the Leader in Disability Inclusion Seal award during the December awards event. This award not only differentiates businesses to the disability community, but also recognizes recipients’ commitment to and work through the Disability Inclusion Process, ​designed by CDI.

Billie Pearson, Director of Human Resources at Ameristar Kansas City said, “It was an honor to be recognized by the Center for Disability Inclusion. In 2023, our Company focused on improving our foundations for disability inclusion through specific training, networking, community outreach and obtaining resources to assist those with disabilities.”

Among the many initiatives the property has instituted, Ameristar Kansas City has asked for feedback on how to make the property more inclusive for team members through posters and comment cards. Additionally, the property has created a more robust Equal Employment Opportunity statement in job postings to ensure everyone is treated fairly in employment decisions.

Billie shared, “These foundation improvements strengthen our ability to identify and remove barriers so that everyone, regardless of their abilities, feel welcomed, valued and integrated here at Ameristar Kansas City.”
