Nearly 25 Ameristar Kansas City team members recently were out again in the Kansas City community assisting the team at Northland Therapeutic Riding Center – a nonprofit organization founded over two decades ago.

Located in Holt, Missouri, Northland Therapeutic Riding Center offers an environment where children, teens and adults with physical, psychological and behavioral challenges can overcome obstacles through equine assisted activities and therapies. Participants are guided through individualized programs with the goal of fostering a unique relationship between humans and horses.

During the volunteer event, Ameristar Kansas City team members worked around the facility assisting in the Tack Room, painting and cleaning up around the property. To conclude the day, Boyd Gaming and Ameristar Kansas City surprised the organization with a $2,000 check to sponsor one of their horses, Sir Nibbles. This generous donation will provide food, hay, veterinary care and other supplies to Sir Nibbles for an entire year.

“It was my privilege to volunteer at Northland Therapeutic Riding Center and help clean up and beautify the property,” said Tracy Tjarks, Table Games Dealer at Ameristar Kansas City. “Being able to take part in this service project and bring attention to a wonderful program made me feel like I had accomplished something worthwhile.”
